Textual Analysis Of Insidious 2 Trailer

Technical Codes
One technical code I noticed was the fact that the media producer used low key lighting when filming. The purpose of this to make the mood for tense and eerie. A reason they use this is because one of a humans natural fears is the dark so this makes the film more scarier as it is darker. The effect of this is that it makes the viewer a lot more scared and tense. Another technical code I noticed in the trailer was that the producer used fast tracking. An example of this in the trailer is when it jumps from place to place to make it scarier. The purpose of this is to make the viewer more worried about what's going to happen next or even what's going to happen next. The effect of this is that it makes the audience more engaged so they can actually find out what happens or what pops up.

Audio Codes
On of the audio codes I noticed the producer used was that he used non-digetic sounds. An example of this is the music that is played in the background when a woman is alone in the house. The purpose of this is to make the viewer feel uncomfortable watching the film. The effect this has on the viewer is that when something happens they will be more scared as the music has made them uncomfortable and as they are waiting for something to happen the tension builds until the scary thing happens.

Visual Codes
A visual code that I noticed was that a lot of the words that were shown in the trailer were the colour red. The purpose of this is that they have used connotations as the colour red is also connotated is the colour of death and blood. The effect of this is that it makes the writing more creepy and intimidating. This makes the film look more chilling just by looking at writing and not any scenes.

Textual Analysis Of Bad Education

Visual Codes
The visual codes in bad education are that the clothes for by the characters. For example the children were wearing school clothes so you can tell who are the pupils and who are the teachers, this means you can sort of guess the age of the characters. The effect of this is so you can tell what the characters are just by looking at them.

Technical Codes
The technical codes of the programme are high key lighting. The purpose of this is to set the mood. The effect of using high key lighting is so that it will make the audience more comfortable to watch it and therefore it will be funnier to watch. I also identified that they used the close up shot. The purpose of this is to show the emotion of the character. In the programme this is done when a character is crying and they use the close up shot to make the viewer feel sympathy for the character so it is  more effective than having a mid shot or any other short further out.

Audio Codes
I found that the media producer used non-digetic sound when changing scenes. The purpose of this is to help give the emotion a character is feeling. This is done by when the character is showing emotion and it changes scene, music is the non-digetic sound and the type of music matches the emotion. An example of this is one of the teachers is happy and when it changes scene the music is bright and upbeat to match the emotion of the character.

Audience

Peace at Reading Festival 2013 Audience Task
The intended audience for this is for people who listen to indie rock music especially the band Peace and like to watch bands playing live music at festivals. The age that this is intended for is about 16-25. I say this age because this is about the age region that go to Reading/Leeds music festivals so this would be the intended audience this programme.
The uses and gratifications used for this programme would be entertainment because people would watch this to just 'get lost in the music'. They would also watch this for social integration because if they had friends that had the same music taste then they would want to talk about it to them. Also another use and gratification  of this programme is personal identity as they can identify themselves as the audience if they listen to Peace or similar sort of music.

Uses And Gratifications: Social Integration

Alan Carr: Chatty Man

Social integration is media where discussions, companionship and camaraderie take place. Alan Carr Chatty Man is a very good example of this sort of media as this television programme consists of him having guests on his show and having discussions with them.

Uses And Gratifications: Entertainment

Bad Education

Entertainment in media purposes are so that people can escape from reality. Bad Education is a good example of this as people would watch this programme to escape from reality and to watch something to laugh at and take their mind off things. Bad Education is a comedy and not very realistic so it helps people escape from reality because of the non-realistic situations.

Uses And Gratifications: Information

Match Of The Day

Information is where people watch or look at media to find out things that has happened in the country or in the world. Match Of The Day is an example of a media that is used to give people information on what happened in every Saturday's Barclays Premier League games, so people will  watch this programme to find out the scores and watch the goals of the Premiership games that happen that day.

Uses And Gratification: Personal Identity

Goals On Sunday

Personal identity is when the active audience idetinfy themselves as part of an audience. Goals on Sunday is an example of Personal Identity because if you are interested in football then this programme would be of an interested to you as it is all about football. The intended audience for this programme is football fans from the age of about 13+. I don't think there is a target audience to be too old as it is a football/chat show. The programme is constructed as the hosts talk to the guests of the show and every now and again football highlights are shown.

How Age Is Represented In Adulthood

Age is represented in the film adulthood negatively is it stereotypes
teenagers to be violent and in gangs. The media producers view on this
are that teenagers in London that are brought up in a bad area will end
up in a gang and be violent and cause trouble.

How Race Is Represented In The Fried Chicken Shop

Race is represented in the show 'The Fried Chicken Shop'. It is represented negatively is it stereotypes that Indians run, stereotypical, cheap fast food restaurants. The view of the media producer is that they can run a fast food shop well and cleanly as the stereotypical fast food chicken shop is not like the one in the television show.

How Race Is Represented In Modern Family

Sexuality is represented in the show modern family as it represents two homosexual men positively. It does this by portraying them as an average family, in a family home with a dependent child. The media producers views are that homosexual people can be married and raise children.

How Gender Is Presented In The Simpsons

Gender is represented in the Simpsons as the mother is always at home as the 'homemaker' and looks after the children and the father goes out to work and puts the food on the table. It is represented negatively as it is very old fashioned that the family works like this. The values of the media producer are that he thinks that the women should stay at home and cook and clean and the men should go and work and get the money.

How Class Is Represented in Newspapers

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/privatise-royal-family-watch-die-2271004

This article, from the mirror, is about Prince William but it is not represented positively but negatively. I know this as the headline says that 'he is no use to us sat on his bum'. This represents that Prince William as lazy and no good to the country. Class is represented in this as Prince William is of the upper class however this is a negative view on this class.

Lord Of The Rings

The Lord Of Rings trilogy is based on the three books written by JR Tolkien about a fellowship made up of hobbits, elves, humans and dwarves in middle earth to destroy a ring. This film's target audience is about 10+. I say 10+ because I believe the films are too long to enjoy if you are not old enough to have the attention span to watch all of it.
